Do you know that tooth decay is preventable and early decay can be reversed?
As a family-oriented dental practice, we’re passionate about preventative care among toddlers and children. Research tells us that nearly 50% of Australian children under six suffer from tooth decay. But the good news is
- Tooth decay/cavity is preventable and not inevitable
- Preventing decay is simple and not difficult
- Early decay can be reversed.
We’re proud to be part of the Alliance for a Cavity-Free Future (ACFF) vision, i.e. Every child born from 2026 should stay cavity free during their lifetime. We’re contributing to this vision through
- providing fun and interactive oral health talks to children.
- offering onsite free dental health checks for children at local early learning and child care centres.
- setting a budget of $1,000 community grant (per calender year) to support projects/campaigns that promotes children’s dental health.
- educating families about Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).
Cavity Free Teeth Talk
The Cavity Free Teeth Talk is a 20 – 30 minute talk involves educating children about the roles of dental professionals and tips to cultivate healthy dental habits. Children will also have the opportunity to role-play as dental nurse and patient to help them foster a positive attitude toward dental care. In the past, we received really positive feedback from children, parents and teachers having visited the Nazareth Early Childhood Centre and Immanuel Primary School (Reception class). At the end of the fun session the children will also receive an oral health gift pack.
In January 2016, Dr Debbie presented this teeth talk with the support from Findon Community Centre. We’re so glad to see that the talk received an overwhelming response from the community. In addition to the talk, we invited Wobble the Clown to join Dr Debbie and all the children and adults enjoyed an “info-taining” (informative & entertaining) session during the school holiday.
As part of our commitment to Cavity-Free 2026, we’re partnering with Findon Community Centre to hold this teeth talk as an annual event.
Free Dental Health Check
Our team of dental professionals can visit your centre to offer a free dental health check for children. Informed consent is required from the parents and ideally, the parents are present during the health check so that our dentist/hygienist can discuss with them optimum dental care for their children.
This year we’re very excited to offer free dental health check at
- Montessori Royal Park
- Sturt Street Children’s Centre
- Laugh N Learn Child Care & Early Learning Centre
- Edge Kids Findon
Every year we set aside $1,000 community grant to partner/support local Early Learning Centre and/or Child Care Centre to undertake a project/campaign that promotes children’s dental health.
Child Dental Benefits Schedule
So far through the support from local Early Learning and Child Care Centres, we have reached more than 700 families with valuable information about the CDBS. We have been able to educate them of the importance of seeking dental expertise in the earlier childhood years and creating good positive dental habits early on. This is another milestone for us to reach the Vision of a Cavity-Free Future 2026. All these initiatives aim to create a cavity-free generation in our community. If you would like to organise this talk and/or the dental health check at your centre, or apply for the community grant, please contact us on 8347 1199, or email@example.com .
